What is the intention/effect of this opening statement?
What is your reaction to this?

The intention of this statement is simply a technique and strategic marketing question to just start your visit to the doctor you feel that you have to change something in your body because this statement is said for a doctor. I think, a lot of people that go to these consultations have little hope that when they arrive there, the doctor will tell them they do not need to change anything because they are fine as they are.

Then the doctor asks you what do not like about yourself and why you want to change your body as small and insignificant the change is.

If I were in this case I would say to the doctor: “Better you should ask, what does not like to this superficial society of me?”

Everyone has to be happy with their body, so you will feel like your body is perfectly fine because you won’t be worried about it. The way of life of the people and their attitude is what counts in the end.
