We use to say people have more beauty when they are young. In this period of time we need to reproduct our race and that's why we are more attractive than after. So, youth and beauty are two words that are bond (in most of the cases).
In the novel, Dorian wants to be young forever because he is very handsome and attracts people's attention. This is the outside, superficial beauty.
I think there are two types of beauty. The last one and the beauty of our soul and our inside body. This beauty is the one that never gets old. It is the sense of ourselves.
So you are always beautiful, but nowadays, people only see the superficial beauty and if you aren't like you have supposed to be then, you are nothing or less than the others. This is a real sin of human race.
