Race to save the Antarctic base: Research 'caterpillar' will ski to safety to avoid being cast adrift on a piece of ice
This news
article explains about Halley VI, a structure built on a floating ice shelf in
the Weddell Sea, Antarctica. Scientifics has realized about ice is cracking
round the caterpillar base. The way they are using to avoid lose the base is
try to ski it to safety. It also mentions that this summer, tractors will tow
modules of the base on the skis to be allowed to safe the base.
In my
opinion I think that we have to draw some conclusions about this happening. Global
warming is real and it’s going forwards really fast. The growing fissures around
the base has appeared due the increase of the temperatures. We have to act
against this phenome for safe our planet.
